The Garrison belt was originally worn over uniforms during World War II, characterized by its wide width. Today, the term refers broadly to simple, square-shaped belts. Known for its durability, it is often used as workwear and pairs perfectly with denim, chinos, and its original roots—cargo and baker pants. With a bold 40mm width and a rugged buckle, this versatile piece also complements tucked-in styles effortlessly.

The leather used is Himeji leather, produced in the renowned leather-producing region around Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture. Himeji has been producing leather since the Heian period, preserving the traditional Japanese method known as Shiro-nuashi (white tanning). For this belt, BARNS OUTFITTERS uses its signature 4mm-thick leather, with a bold 40mm width for a strong presence. The belt is crafted from natural leather, minimally processed to preserve its original color—often called the “leather of leathers.” Over time, it develops a rich, glossy amber patina, making it a must-have for leather enthusiasts and fans of American casual style.
