Its history dates back to the early 19th century, when Scottish settlers introduced knitting techniques, shepherding, and cultural practices to the Cowichan people. Building on these techniques, the Cowichan sweater evolved by incorporating the unique culture, mythology, and traditions of the Cowichan.
