This fabric was first used in the 19th century for British and French military uniforms. It is said that during World War I, when the U.S. military was stationed in the Philippines, they sourced fabric from China for their uniforms, which led to the name “chino cloth.” Because of their durable construction, chinos were often worn as workwear, and today they have become an indispensable staple in casual fashion. This season, the classic item is reintroduced using T/C fabric, a workwear standard.
