The "90s Series" has been established as a staple sweatshirt line in the BARNS OUTFITTERS Autumn/Winter collection. This year, the fabric has been renewed into a dense, tightly-woven loop-back, utilizing 20-count yarn for the face and 10-count BD (Open-End) yarn for the backing. The crisp, slightly coarse texture—a signature of BD yarn—combined with details like the ribbed side panels creates a finish that strongly evokes that iconic American athletic brand's sweatshirt. Now making its debut is a stadium jacket crafted from the durable, high-quality fabric that is quintessentially BARNS OUTFITTERS.

"A Versatile Piece for Layering, from Outerwear to Innerwear"

The prototype for the Varsity or Award Jacket is said to be a low-gauge knit cardigan worn during baseball warm-ups. It later evolved into the blouson style we see today around the 1930s, becoming an established fashion staple in the 1970s, and remains an indispensable item in American Casual (Amekaji) style. BARNS OUTFITTERS has taken this traditional garment and crafted it in a sweatshirt fabric, resulting in a highly versatile piece that works perfectly as both outerwear and an inner layer. The print is finished in a collegiate design reminiscent of the University of Michigan. Different distressing techniques are used to achieve varying vintage textures: 'Washout' is applied to the Grey, while a 'Cracked' finish is used on the Navy and Burgundy versions.

This jacket features the characteristic fold-over collar, affectionately known as the "Swiss Collar," a hallmark of the Varsity Jacket design.

It features wide armholes and ribbed side panels that run continuously from the underarm to the hem.
