The city of Fussa in Tokyo, about 40 km from the center of the city, has a somewhat American atmosphere, partly due to the Yokota Air Base. NORTH WORKS is a workshop and atelier in a renovated U.S. military house, where they continue to create products with unchanging value based on basic designs. Each item is made by hand, so each piece has a slightly different face, which becomes the flavor of the item. The new collection for Fall/Winter 2025 features a special collaboration between BARNS OUTFITTERS and NORTH WORKS, highlighting the brand's iconic Smile motif. The Smile Collection was specially commissioned by BARNS OUTFITTERS and includes a series of accessories centered around the iconic smiling face. Among the lineup is a standout bangle crafted using the repoussé technique, a traditional metalworking method that adds dimension and character. A playful yet refined piece that blends artisan craftsmanship with timeless Americana spirit.

What if Native Americans had believed in a "smile" deity…? This imaginative concept gave birth to a design that blends the iconic smile motif with a traditional technique known as repoussé—a method often seen in Navajo jewelry, where patterns are hammered from the reverse side to create raised designs on the front. The result is a piece that strikes a perfect balance between playfulness and tradition.

The inside is stamped with the logos of both BARNS OUTFITTERS and NORTH WORKS. Each stamp is applied by hand, resulting in a one-of-a-kind finish unique to every piece.
