Our Athletic Sweat Series is back, featuring a vintage-inspired look and a heavyweight yet lightweight feel achieved through a unique cotton-polyester blend. With a brushed interior for warmth and a relaxed fit for comfort, it’s ideal for layering in the colder months. For this season, we’re debuting a highly anticipated zip-up cardigan, a style we’ve never offered before. The design takes cues from collegiate track and field team warm-up wear.

While varsity jackets and lettered cardigans typically use patches for the front design, this cardigan features a printed front instead. The back showcases a fictional university track and field team logo in plush, 3D chenille embroidery, combining different techniques for a premium feel. The front print has a vintage touch: ivory is washed-out, and charcoal and green feature cracked rubber prints for a classic worn-in look.

The neckline features a binder construction for enhanced durability, creating a tough finish that resists stretching.

The use of raglan sleeves increases the range of motion and reduces bulk around the shoulders when worn under outerwear, ensuring a stress-free fit. Additional vintage-inspired details include underarm gussets and V-shaped gussets at the sleeve cuffs, originally designed to make sleeves easier to put on when rib fabrics had limited stretch.

The zipper pull features a BARNS OUTFITTERS original slider, designed with a nod to a certain well-known slider for a distinctive finish.

To create a vintage look, the fabric is pigment-dyed so that color rests only on the surface, then washed to achieve the uniquely faded appearance of well-worn vintage garments. With repeated washing, the color gradually fades, allowing you to enjoy its natural aging over time.

A fabric with a substantial, heavyweight feel yet enhanced by the lightness characteristic of polyester, making it perfect for fall and winter. The brushed interior provides warmth, ensuring it can be worn comfortably even during the coldest winter days.
