    "Special Collaboration Item"

The collaboration items that will color the 2025 AW season have arrived early.
BIG MAC was born in the early 1920s as a private brand for a major American department store. At the time, it gained strong support from workers thanks to its excellent functionality and high quality, focusing mainly on workwear such as denim and heavy-ounce flannel shirts. Today, drawing on its long history and rich archive, the brand develops products that reinterpret silhouettes and materials with a modern twist. For some, it carries a sense of nostalgia; for others, it feels fresh and new—BIG MAC has been reborn as a brand that resonates across generations. From the special collaboration series that began last year, the Engineer Jacket now makes its debut. By sampling original pieces preserved from that era and updating them for modern wearability, it has been crafted into a truly special item.

"A Piece Aimed at True Vintage"

The main piece in the BIG MAC collaboration lineup is the coverall. Among them, the Engineer Jacket—a short-length, collarless work jacket first used around the 1920s—was designed with ease of movement in mind for engineers working in factories. Its shorter cut allowed for better mobility, while the absence of a collar reflected the fact that it was intended for indoor work, where wind protection wasn’t necessary. One defining feature of vintage Engineer Jackets is their very short length. While authentic, this extreme cut can make styling and everyday wear quite challenging. For this collaboration, BARNS OUTFITTERS has pursued an authentic vintage look by incorporating washed processing, triple-needle stitching, and plated buttons, while at the same time adjusting the pattern to ensure modern wearability. The result is a piece that feels true to its heritage yet easy to wear today.

By adopting raglan sleeves, the range of motion is expanded, while the relaxed workwear silhouette helps reduce stiffness around the shoulders when layered with outerwear. The fit is generously sized, allowing enough room to wear a hoodie underneath.

The buttons feature a plated finish reminiscent of vintage pieces.

The triple-needle stitching, a hallmark of workwear, was originally used to reinforce stress points but also serves as a distinctive design accent.

The left chest pocket features a recreated tag design from the 1970s, adding a unique accent exclusive to this collaboration.

Comes with a paper flasher, just like a true deadstock piece.

The slightly cropped length is designed to avoid being too short, creating a finish that perfectly matches today’s trends.

Made from denim of just the right thickness for long-term wear, while maintaining the lightness unique to coveralls.
