The "90s Series" has been established as a staple sweatshirt line in the BARNS OUTFITTERS Autumn/Winter collection. This year, the fabric has been renewed into a dense, tightly-woven loop-back, utilizing 20-count yarn for the face and 10-count BD (Open-End) yarn for the backing. The crisp, slightly coarse texture—a signature of BD yarn—combined with details like the ribbed side panels creates a finish that strongly evokes that iconic American athletic brand's sweatshirt. With the oversized trend settling, we intentionally designed this piece to have a precise, just-fit silhouette—the perfect look for today. The design is inspired by crewneck sweatshirts worn by collegiate crew teams.

"Classic American Athletic Style"

The design, featuring crossed oars and the text "FSE CREW," and modeled after a crewneck sweatshirt for a fictional rowing team, strongly evokes the feeling of America's prestigious private universities. The 90s-inspired aesthetic results in a preppy item that projects a smart, cool atmosphere. The prints utilize different finishes to achieve varying vintage textures: a 'Washout' effect is applied to the Grey version, while a 'Cracked' effect is used on the Navy and Emerald Green.

This neckline is constructed with a wide, cut-out style that has almost equal depth at the front and back, a detail commonly found in vintage sweatshirt.

It features wide armholes and ribbed side panels that run continuously from the underarm to the hem. This specification is retained from the time the garment was originally developed as training wear, designed to enhance stretch, comfort, and ease of movement. It also serves the functional purpose of preventing horizontal shrinkage during washing.

The cuffs feature a ribbed construction true to the era, characterized by a slightly longer cut and high tension. You can wear them as is or folded back, allowing you to style them according to your preference.
