"Special Collaboration: BARNS OUTFITTERS × BIG MAC"
Introducing the standout collaboration for the 2026SS season.
BIG MAC was born in the early 1920s as a private brand for a major American department store. At the time, their workwear—including denim and heavy-duty flannel shirts—earned immense support from workers for its superior functionality and durability.
Today, BIG MAC continues to evolve by reimagining its vast historical archives with modern silhouettes and premium materials. It has become a brand that feels nostalgic to those who grew up with original vintage pieces, yet fresh and exciting to the younger generation.
For this season, our collaborative Coveralls(Chore Jacket) returns for the first time since 2024AW, featuring new colors and refined updates.

"A Masterpiece of Authentic Vintage Restoration"
For many, BIG MAC is synonymous with the iconic "Chore Jacket."
Originating in the 19th century and known by various names such as the Railroad Jacket, or Engineer Jacket, these garments were the essential uniforms for workers in railways, agriculture, and coal mines. Built from rugged, heavy-duty fabrics to protect against injury and dirt, their multi-pocket design was truly revolutionary for the labor force of the era.
By the 1930s, the four-pocket layout became the standard, establishing the blueprint for the modern chore coat. In this collaboration, BARNS OUTFITTERS has gone to great lengths to achieve a "Real Vintage" aesthetic. Every detail—from the authentic wash processing and triple-needle stitching to the specially plated buttons—has been meticulously crafted to recreate the soul of an original archive piece.

The generously sized armholes draw inspiration from authentic workwear silhouettes, offering a relaxed and comfortable fit. The proportions are carefully designed to provide ample room, making it easy to layer over a heavy hoodie without feeling restricted.

The jacket is fitted with specially plated buttons that enhance its vintage aesthetic. A standout feature is the inclusion of a traditional pocket watch chain buttonhole—a nostalgic detail that pays homage to early 20th-century workwear, adding an extra layer of historical depth to the garment.

A hallmark of authentic workwear, the triple-needle stitching is primarily used to reinforce high-stress areas for maximum durability. Beyond its functional purpose, the prominent stitching also serves as a key design accent, highlighting the rugged, industrial character of the jacket.

The left chest pocket features a faithfully recreated tag from the 1960s, paying homage to a pivotal era in BIG MAC's history. This nostalgic touch serves as a distinctive accent, celebrating the unique spirit of this special collaboration between BARNS OUTFITTERS and BIG MAC.

The Light Indigo colorway features a realistic "used" finish, meticulously processed to replicate the natural wear and fading of a decades-old archive piece.

We have prepared three distinct versions of this collaboration piece, each with its own character.
The Light Indigo features a realistic used finish for an authentic, aged look.
The One-Wash Indigo offers a classic start, perfect for those who want to enjoy the "aging process" as the fabric fades over time.
Finally, we have the Hickory Stripe, which has been treated with a vintage wash to soften its bold, industrial pattern for a more soulful, heritage feel.
